Annual General Meeting, Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. by Zoom

The Peterborough Community Legal Centre invites you to attend our Annual General Meeting Tuesday, August 26th at 7pm. This will be a virtual event, held on Zoom, and is open for all community members to attend.

We are honoured to present, as our featured guest, Scott Baird, a lawyer with the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO). ACTO is a speciality legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario. Scott is the Community Engagement Coordinator at ACTO. For over five years, he has spearheaded support and solutions for tenant rights and affordable housing with groups across Ontario and Canada. Today he primarily serves as the campaign organizer for ACTO’s law reform initiative Fair Rent Ontario which is a cross-sectoral coalition advocating for full rent control. Scott and Fair Rent Ontario are dedicated to creating stable homes and secure futures for all renters across the province.

As of 2021, tenants comprised over 30% of the total population of Ontario.1 In the City of Peterborough as of 2021, 40.6% of the population consisted of tenants, 27.5% of the population of the County.2 Housing affordability is a key issue for tenants as rents keep rising and wages remain flat. Many tenants in Peterborough work full time yet struggle to pay the rent and afford basic necessities like food.3 ACTO and Fair Rent Ontario have some suggestions about how to solve this problem. Bring your questions!

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

The meeting is free and open to the general public, but you must register by EventBrite if you wish to attend:
